Zodiacal pebble

Inspired by this picture, I wanted to engrave a pebble with the zodiacal signs. Here is the result, not too bad for something done with an old butter knife.

And a third pic with my hand so you can guess the size of the pebble.

OLD STUFF - filigrees

Filigrees and just filigrees, no text, no reason, just because I really love that.

Wallnut stain on paper, every circle is filled with different patterns

Time is a bird

A beautiful text, writen by Pascal Aussi.
I calligraphed the beginning of it in its latin version using NEULAND with wallnut stain & ferro-gallic ink.

I already said it but I really love the mix between wallnut stain & ferro-gallic ink.

Making new friends

It's quite simple, you just need tools to work on stone, collect peebles and here you are ;-)

live filigree

Here is a short video of a filigree pattern I made for a demonstration.
The video speed has been increased, the real duration is about 18 minutes.
And the result is approximatively 3cm wide.

All the leaves...

...will want to be your pennons

It's the translation of this new poem by Guillevic, engraved on this new terra cotta pot.

The curve of the pot forbids to photograph the whole text at once, you'll consequently get 2 pics.

And, as a bonus one, a photo of the happy father with his last-born :-)

OLD STUFF - Guillevic

I'm going to post here the most interesting (or so I believe) works I made these last 2 years and that were only posted on the french version of the blog.
I hope you will like it even if it can be considered as old stuff.

The concerned posts titles will start by "OLD STUFF".

To begin with, here is a set of short poems by Guillevic (french poet of the XXth century).

I made them on paper, using the same script (humanistic minuscule) and the same design. The adornment in the circle is supposed to echo the text.

clouds

clock

leaves

bramble

trees

appearance

moon

sun

Slightly longer

Once more, an initial adorned with filigrees (I promise, I'm going to work on other subjects soon). This time an F, a long one to create a bookmark.

And a set of little ones, to continue with my alphabets.

Slate engraving

To adorn my flower pots (when there are no flowers on the plants), I'm designing little boards made of slate, engraved with filigrees.

Here are the pictures of two of them during the engraving process.

And the first one once varnished, in the mint pot

Slightly larger

To fill an order, I made a new initial, twice as large as the previous ones. It's almost 4cm high but the materials and technics are the same.

As I was holding my quill, I also made other little ones, I just can't stop doing these :-)

Today's engraving

You didn't see my first attemps to engrave flower pots, so here it is.

And, as I found it quite easy to engrave, I started a more amibtious project.
Not finished yet but here is today's achievment.

both texts are poems by Guillevic, a french poet from the XXth century.

More initials

As I didn't post here for quite a long time, you couldn't see all the tiny intials I made previously.

Here are some of them (not all of them, I didn't take pics every time and they are by far too numerous).

greek

I made tons of initials with filigrees but always using the latin alphabet.
Here is a first panel of greek initials made the same way.

Wallnut stain and ferro-gallic ink on paper, the letters are approx. 2cm high

I will probably design the whole alphabet.

I'm back

Long time since I posted here, my apologies.
Now that I feel a little bit less lazy, I'll try to keep you updated on what's going on in the workshop :-)

And today, I finished the calligraphy of a song, Alligator 427, from the french singer Hubert Félix Thiéfaine.
I've been thinking about it for years (the first drafts are from 2011 !!) and it's done !
And, as far as I can say, quite well done (I really like it).

I transferred a photograph (paint marks on a sidewalk) on an old zinc plate, etched the title using acid and ended by writing the text in NEULAND script.
